How much proficiency does one need for the production of a sweater?
Indeed, a large part of the production is executed with the help of machines, but a great deal of handcraft still has a hand in a high-quality knitted item. The knitted item is knitted on a straight bar or flat knitting machine. The finished item is fixed and ironed and this is followed by cutting according to a cutting template.
The cut parts are sewn together in different work steps depending on the shape of the sweater. In doing so, special sewing machines are used such as a two-needle, flatlock, buttonhole or staystitchmachine.
When the sweater has been completely tailored, i.e. sewn in form, it is fitted depending on the material and quality. It is subsequently fixed in its final shape using steam treatment. The final check is carried out after ironing.
